signupThis year, on our 7th Annual Spring Retreat, we are delighted to welcome you in one of Turkey’s best kept secrets. We will host our retreat in beautiful boutique hotel, nested in a gorgeous hidden bay with a private beach on the Aegean Sea. Some describe this spot as one of the most serene spots on the Mediterranean. Join us for one or two weeks of Yoga, beautiful nature, delicious healthy food, Sunshine and of course the one-of-a-kind Mediterranean Sea. Each part of our yoga course is a week-long and designed to allow you enough time to deepen your yoga practice, detox and enjoy this beautiful region and its culture in the best possible time of the year.

THE SPECTACULAR REGION AND OUR HIDDEN BAY

Our retreat is located in near Kumlubuk, a small village on the Aegean Sea, just 25km from Marmaris, and not far from the ancient ruins town of Amos. This part of Turkey is stunning as it is held between the high mountains on one hand and the blue sea on the other. The Aegean Sea is known for its crystal clear warm water with a fascinating dramatic coastline forming one bay after the other.

 

OUR BOUTIQUE HOTEL AND ITS PRIVATE BEACH

We will stay and practice in a charming sea-side hotel wonderfully-situated upon a nice rock formation above its own beach. The hotel also has a sea-facing dining terrace, a swimming pool, and a quiet private beach. The entire hotel has a privileged view of the sea and beach.

 

THE HOTEL ROOMS

The hotel has only 14 rooms (all of which are unique and with sea view), which were recently renovated. First type of room is the standard double room on the highest floor with a big balcony. There are also few bigger and more pampering suites which are bigger and with an additional living room for more space, privacy, or for sleeping a child (wanna bring the kids over?). Prices of both rooms are below. To make sure you have the room type you want please sign up in advance and we will confirm availability ASAP. All rooms are charming, newly renovated, with ensuite bathrooms and free wifi.

 

DATES & TIMES

The retreat will take place from Saturday to Saturday on the first two weeks of June. Just before the heat of July and the holiday wave of tourism – it’s the best time of the year.

Arrival and check in are on Sat June 3 / June 10 (from 13:00). We will welcome you and give you all the information you need to settle. You can get comfortable in your room, take a dip in the pool, go to the beach, explore the area and join us for a meet & greet early evening at our welcome dinner. Departure and check out is on the following Saturday June 10/17.

YOGA RETREAT PROGRAM AND DAILY SCHEDULE

We’ll start the day in the morning (SUN-FRI*) with an extra-long Iyengar yoga class with Asaf. The yoga program is designed to develop and deepen your yoga practice in any level of practice. We will focus on different yoga subjects and pose groups each day in a gradual and highly personal manner. Each morning class is a mini workshop. algrave retreat with asaf hacmon spring yoga

After the morning class we will meet for a rich and healthy Mediterranean brunch together and set off on our day. You will have ample free time during the day to go to the beach, explore the nature and villages around, or just relax by the pool with a good book. We will offer many joined (optional) activities such as hiking, sailing, horseback riding, nature walks etc…

In the evenings (except Wednesday) we will enjoy a 2 hour Restorative Yoga class where we will also learn Pranayama, Yoga Philosophy and practices of Mindfulness and centring awareness. We will end most days with a wonderful joined dinner.

*Wednesday is a free day for you to travel and rest. There will be a morning yoga class and earlier brunch. As in all days, the yoga shala will be available for self-practice or meditation throughout the day.

WEEK 1: A JOURNEY THROUGH THE SEVEN CHAKRAS

Following the success of this program in our Bali retreat in Jan 2016, we will again dive into the fascinating yet rarely discussed subject of the Seven Chakras system. We will devote each day of the retreat to another chakra and learn the theory behind it, as well as specific yoga sequences that revolve around each chakra and help in opening and balancing it. As each chakra represent another aspect in our embodiment of human complexity, as the week progresses we may feel a sense of deepening in our own self inquiry and understanding.

WEEK 2: IYENGAR YOGA DEEPENING (EXPERIENCE REQUIRED)

As in previous years, this week is where we go deeper in our yoga practice into more complex yoga asana groups. Classes are longer and there is more Pranayama (breathing techniques) and mindfulness work. As always, we will dive deeper into yoga philosophy (particularly non-dual) and try to establish the bond between deep practice and meditation in the cave of the heart. To make the most out of this week you will have ideally at least 6 months of Iyengar yoga experience or at least a year in other systems.

REACHING OUR YOGA RETREAT IS EASY & AFFORDABLE!

Iyengar Yoga Retreat in Turkey with Asaf Hacmon - Map Kumlubuk There are many cheap flights available to Turkey. The 2 closest airports are Dalaman (closest) and Bodrum.

We advise to search for flights with Skyscanner or Momondo for best options to any of these airports (inc with low cost airlines). We also advise to search with big tour operators such as Tui, Arke, and Corendon, who offer regular charter flights of their own.

From either Dalaman or Bodrum airports there are many options like sharing a taxi (we will help you with that if you land in similar times with other students) but we always recommend renting a little car. It is by far the best way to travel and explore this little piece of heaven we’re staying in. Its often quite easy sharing a car rental between few students so we hope we can help you with that too if you need.
